Apogee Solutions achieved 100% compliance, meaning a score of 110 out of 110 available points, indicating a strong, integrated cybersecurity program.
Apogee Solutions’ CMMC team was led by Timothy Esler (Security Manager and Facility Security Officer), with assistance from technical consultant Koren Wise of Wise Technical Innovations and Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP) Summit 7. Apogee Solutions’ C3PAO-led assessment was conducted by Cybersec Investments. Apogee Solutions’ efforts were supported by a grant from Virginia’s GENEDGE Alliance.
CMMC is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) framework for securing the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) against evolving cyber threats. In completing the multi-day assessment, Apogee Solutions demonstrated compliance with all 110 security controls across 14 control domains, including access control, incident response, risk assessment, and system and communications protection, showcasing the company’s robust and mature cybersecurity program. These controls are outlined in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-171, Revision 2, to protect sensitive data against cyberthreats as codified in Title 32 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 2002—Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

The assessment included a comprehensive evaluation of Apogee Solutions’ cybersecurity practices, policies, and processes, as well as documentation reviews; interviews with Apogee Solutions’ security, technology, and human resources teams; and live demonstrations with assessors. Successfully achieving the CMMC Level 2 certification positions Apogee Solutions as one of the early achievers in a select group of businesses meeting DoD’s enhanced cybersecurity standards.
